“Leadership” is a word that gets thrown around with abandon, but what does it REALLY mean? Beyond title, position, or responsibilities, EACH of us has the power to exercise authentic leadership and positively impact those around us. In this interactive and reflective workshop, you will consider the qualities of effective leaders – the public and the personal – and discover how you can be a leader in your job, home, and community, regardless of your title, role, or experience.
Studies show that storytelling is a powerful tool for developing authentic connection, resulting in influence, loyalty, and team cohesiveness. Participants, who will be asked to prepare a brief personal story in advance of the workshop, will explore how their own life stories impact their work, their roles on the team, and their daily interactions.
Every day, we encounter situations that require decisions. Consciously or unconsciously, these decisions are based on our beliefs about the world and the values we hold, which are often surprisingly different from those of our supervisors, co-workers, and clients. In this thought-provoking workshop, participants will consider and clarify their personal values and explore how they interplay with the values of those around them.
Although focusing on areas of weakness might seem the natural approach to personal and professional development, studies demonstrate that a strength-based approach is significantly more effective (and far more fun), resulting in greater productivity, engagement, and overall success. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn about strength-based development, begin to discover their own innate strengths, and explore ways to more fully incorporate their natural talents into their work to maximize their own and their team’s potential.
Optional
Participants can take the Clifton Strengths assessment prior to the workshop and receive a comprehensive report to discuss in class. A per-participant assessment fee will be added to the workshop cost.
Grounded in a better understanding of their individual strengths and stories, participants will be guided through the creation of a personal mission statement -- a helpful tool for clarifying goals, career paths, and other life decisions. They will then work to refine broad goals into goals that are specific, measurable, and meaningful, and to develop plans of action and accountability to ensure they are achieved.
Participants will learn how to use self-awareness, strength-based leadership, and strong team-building and time management skills to effectively plan a group project which engages and empowers all team members. Optional: A specific group project which addresses a departmental, organizational, or community issue can be incorporated into the instruction and used for hands-on application of the material.
Staying inspired and motivated sometimes feels like a daily battle forcing us to rely on our deepest levels of resolve and grit. As we kick ourselves into gear each day, confronting the resistance and apathy of others can diminish that resolve and leave us feeling frustrated and depleted. In this interactive workshop, you will explore mindsets and techniques that will help you connect with those resistant clients, unmotivated colleagues, and disengaged teammates by “speaking to the heart,” leaving them – and YOU – inspired to take action.
Life is challenging enough in “normal” times; today’s unpredictable environment brings those challenges to a whole new level. Surviving and thriving will require a level of attention to our own self-care, as well as to our connections to each other, as never before. One of the most impactful self-care habits we can embrace, Intentional Gratitude, offers not only significant personal wellness benefits but helps strengthen the wellness and productivity of our teams. This interactive workshop is filled with tips and support for implementing habits that will help keep you and your teams happy and well.
